Project Description
Natural heart is an outdoor design project set in an intimate courtyard in the heart of Paris’s 11th arrondissement. Designed as a natural refuge, the patio is home to birds that come here to rest before flying off elsewhere. Natural Heart is like a little secret garden, a place of serenity where vegetation plays an essential role. It creates a natural filter between the private area of the house and the back of the courtyard, preserving privacy while refreshing the adjascent interiors.
This patio was designed as part of the renovation of the “Richard Lenoir” house with the aim of extending the interior living space outwards. The project aims to transform the courtyard into an extension of the living room, providing a welcoming setting for small gatherings, moments of relaxation, as well as breakfasts or dinners with friends.

The heart of the project is a central planted area, created by a raised planter. This frees up a large area in front of the living room, creating an outdoor ‘plant room’ where nature and comfort come together in harmony. The wooden structures of the plant facade and the planter have been entirely custom-designed and made from a type of wood that is particularly resistant to outdoor conditions, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal.
The vegetation was carefully selected to suit the shade of the courtyard. Tropical undergrowth species that are well acclimatised to the Parisian climate were chosen. Particular attention was paid to evergreen plants, to maintain a green atmosphere throughout the year, even in winter.
The patio is much more than just an outdoor space: it's a true extension of the home, a place where nature invites itself into everyday life, creating a peaceful, friendly atmosphere right in the heart of Paris.
